General Payment Information for NHEC Users
Residential and commercial customers in New Hampshire can purchase a deregulated electricity plan from one of the several electricity distribution systems and suppliers in those regions. Their selected suppliers will then work with the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative to maintain energy efficiency and prevent interruptions in the delivery.
The current Price to Compare (default supply price) for the NHEC electricity supply is currently $0.140 per kWh for residential members and $0.159 per kWh for business/general co-op members. In case you choose one of the competitive electricity utility companies in the area, you may receive some great offers, better pricing, high safety standards, and reliable delivery. However, there is no guarantee that you will save money on the total energy costs for the utility, or experience an overall bill decrease.

New Hampshire Electric offers several ways to pay your electricity bills. These include debit card payments, credit card payments, bank drafts, in-person payments, payments via mail, and phone payments.
Additionally, they provide two different payment options for each customer to choose from:
- Payment Extensions – You can extend your bill payment up to a period based on your financial capacity and payment history.

These are the Statewide Electric Assistance Program (EAP) for New Hampshire, and Project Care, which is part of the NHEC Foundation and uses public donations to help members pay their electric utility bills.
Furthermore, the NHEC Foundation offers several financial assistance options to members and other eligible individuals through its various charitable trusts spread across the state. Additionally, members who currently drive or have recently purchased an electric vehicle automatically become eligible for tax rebates through the NHSaves program.
How to Lower Your NHEC Bill
Deregulated energy plans allow customers to choose from several rates from multiple competitive energy distributors and suppliers. Check the ‘Price to Compare’ — New Hampshire Electric’s default rate — and compare it with licensed electricity supplier prices.
Arbor’s free TrueRate Protection is the best way to ensure that you always pay the lowest rate against your current ‘Price to Compare.’
For example, New Hampshire Electric’s current electricity Price to Compare is cents 14 cents per kilowatt-hour. Arbor scans the electricity utility markets for the best rates, and will generally find lower rates than your current supplier’s price.
When your term is expiring, Arbor finds the best rate and switches you again. You always pay the best rate and never have to worry about overpaying for electricity ever again.
You can use the free savings calculator to find out how much you could save in each case. Electricity payments can be complicated, that's why a lot of people trust Arbor to manage their electricity service, so they end up saving on their energy bills.
