Here’s how the Washington Gas payment system works, along with everything you need to know about their energy costs.
General Payment Information for Washington Gas Users
All Washington Gas customers are free to choose who supplies their gas. Each gas supplier in Washington Gas’ service territory offers different gas rates and plans you can choose from.
The Public Service Commission regulates the standard rates offered by Washington Gas. The Standard Choice Offer is the supply rate you get if you don’t opt for another supplier. You can compare that Standard Choice Offer with the rates offered by other suppliers and make an informed decision.
You can find out more about the Washington Gas rates and tariffs here. Furthermore, it’s best to keep an eye on the meter to note how much gas you’re using. You can use the meter reading and the rates you’ve chosen to calculate a roughly estimated utility bill. You can learn how to read your meter here. If you’re wondering how you’re charged in your bill, you can learn more about it here.

Does Washington Gas Have Payment Plan Options?
Washington Gas has several payment plan options for different customers. Here are seven payment programs they currently offer.
- Budget Plan: The budget plan helps spread winter heating bills over the entire year. The average monthly payment is calculated using historical gas usage, projected gas costs, and forecasted weather conditions. You then have to pay the same amount for the entire year regardless of how much gas you use.
- eBill Automated-Payment Plan: EBAP makes it easier to pay your monthly bill by automatically deducting the amount from your checking account. You will receive your invoice as usual and get an email confirmation after the bill is paid each month.
- Automated-Payment Plan: APPL is for people who want their monthly bill deducted automatically but also want to receive a paper bill each month. You will receive each bill by mail while the amount will automatically be deducted from your account.
- Payment Extension Plan: The Payment Extension Plan extends the bill’s due date for some people.
- Deferred Payment Arrangement: If you cannot pay your past-due bill amount and your current charges, you can enter into a deferred payment arrangement. It can make it easier to make outstanding payments without worrying about any additional repercussions.
- Multiple Account Manager: This flexible account management plan is for businesses that have numerous gas connections and accounts. You can manage several accounts using the online account management tools provided to save time and effort.
- Summary Billing: Summary Billing is a plan for businesses where they can pay the due of all their accounts with one bill and one payment. It combines all your accounts and their bills into one single summary bill, so you don’t have to worry about paying individual bills.
