General Payment Information for Appalachian Power Users

Residential and commercial customers in Ohio and West Virginia can purchase a deregulated electricity plan from one of the several electricity distribution systems and suppliers in those regions. Their selected suppliers will then work with Appalachian Power to maintain energy efficiency and prevent interruptions in the delivery.

The current Price to Compare (default supply price) for the Appalachian Power electricity supply is currently $0.11 per kWh for residential customers. Commercial/business customers have to pay according to their utility consumption and usage. In case you choose one of the competitive electricity utility companies in the area, you may receive special pricing and incentives, as well as high safety standards and reliable delivery. However, there is no guarantee that you will save money on the total bill for both utilities.

How to Pay Your Bill

There are four ways you can pay your Appalachian Power bill.

  1. Online: Once you have created an energy supply account with the company, you can pay through an online payment account or as a guest (via a utility account number and zip code). If you have AutoPay set up, the payment will automatically be deducted from your account. You can also pay via credit/debit card or eCheck.
  2. Pay by Phone: You can call Appalachian Power at 1-800-956-4237 to make payments via credit/debit card or electronic funds transfer.
  3. In-Person: You can pay in-person at authorized payment locations.
  4. Mail: You can mail your payment via money order or check.

How to Lower Your Appalachian Power Bill

Deregulated energy plans allow customers to choose from several rates from multiple competitive energy distributors and suppliers. Check the ‘Price to Compare’ — Appalachian Power’s default rate — and compare it with licensed electricity supplier prices.

Arbor’s free TrueRate Protection is the best way to ensure that you always pay the lowest rate against your current ‘Price to Compare.’

For example, Appalachian Power’s current electricity Price to Compare is 11.1 cents per kWh. Arbor scans the electricity utility markets for the best rates, and will generally find lower rates than your current supplier’s price.

When your term is expiring, Arbor finds the best rate and switches you again. You always pay the best rate and never have to worry about overpaying for electricity ever again.

You can use the free savings calculator to find out how much you could save in each case. Electricity payments can be complicated, that's why a lot of people trust Arbor to manage their electricity service, so they end up saving on their energy bills.
